In 2024, we came dangerously close to losing Chicago's Greyhound terminal. Just like other cities across the nation, the station had come under ownership of private equity and Greyhound's lease was up with no plan from the City or the bus companies for a resolution. But thanks to our advocacy, a short-term month-to-month agreement was met while the City worked on a long-term plan.
Now, the City has presented a plan to add the terminal to the Canal/Congress TIF district in order to purchase the terminal – and your Alderperson needs to hear you support this plan!
Just like our airports, municipal ownership of bus terminals has been identified as best practice, with many successful cases in the US like Atlanta and New York City. It's time that Chicago gets this done.
But time is ticking, and the longer council waits, the closer we get to losing this vital transportation resource. Take 60 seconds and use our tool to contact your Alderperson today!
